Haalu menasina saaru ( milk pepper rasam)


Ingredients 

Water—3 cups
Milk ( haalu)—1/2 cup

Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—few
Salt to taste.

Ingredients for seasoning (oggarane)

Ghee— 1 tablespoon 
Mustard seeds (sasive)—1/2 teaspoon 
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 teaspoon 
Asafoetida (hing//ingu)—1/2 teaspoon 

Method for making saaru 

Heat ghee in a pan or vessel,add sasive, jeerige ,hing,when they stop spluttering add karibevu on low medium flame.

Add menasina saarina pudi saute and immediately add water making the flame to low.
Add milk and stir.
Add the salt stir well and let it boil.
Once boiled switch off the stove.

Serve pipping hot menasina saaru with boiled rice  and ghee.
 You can even drink as soup.

This is a traditional malnaadu recipe.

Note;; this is served daily to post -natal mothers,because which keeps the body warm after delivery.

It also induce immunity in the mother and child and prevent infections and helps in digestion.
