Pumpkin otthu shavige ( noodles)
Ingredients
Pumpkin—1 small or pumpkin purée —2 cup
Rice powder ( akki hittu)—1 cup
Salt- 1/2 teaspoon
Sugar—1 teaspoon
Ghee—1 teaspoon
Water -1/4 cup or as required
Method
Peel the skin and chop pumpkin into small cubes or even you can grate them.
Transfer the pumpkin cubes into a mixer grinder jar add very little water and blend into a smooth purée.
Ensure pumpkin purée is blended completely smooth to avoid clogging the chakli maker.
Transfer the purée into pan or kadai,add salt,sugar and saute for 4 to 5 minutes on medium heat.
When the mixture starts boiling,add the rice flour ,mixing continuously on low heat until a sot smooth dough forms.
Add ghee and mix well.
Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on low heat.
Then transfer the cooked dough to a broad plate and need well with wet hands,when its hot.
Make cylindrical shaped dumplings out of dough and cover them with a damp cloth and keep it aside.
Next grease the chakli maker with some oil,and place the dumplings inside the maker.
Tighten with the lid and press shavige in circular motion on plates or idli moulds.
Steam them for 10 to 12 minutes on medium heat or until cooked.
Take out from steamer and let it cool .
Tasty soft colourful,sweet light pumpkin otthu shavige is ready to serve.
You can serve with kayi haalu (payasa),yellu pudi .
