Mangai shunti (mango ginger) tambuli

 


Ingredients

Mangai shunti (mango ginger//mango adarak)—1 piece 

Channa dhal (kadale bele)—1 tablespoon 
Urad dhal (uddina belle)—1 tablespoon 
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)— 1 tablespoon 
Black pepper corns (kaalu menasu)—1 tablespoon 
Fresh grated coconut (kayi turi//nariyal)—1/2 cup
Curd (mosaru//dahi )— 2  cups or as required.
Salt—to taste
Ghee—2 tablespoon 

Method 

Wash the mangai shunti and peel the skin.
Cut into small pieces.

Next heat ghee in a pan,add channa  and urad dhals,jeera,pepper corns and saute on medium flame till dhals turns to light brown colour.

Then add chopped mango ginger pieces and saute for a minute,add grated coconut and switch off  the stove immediately.
Take it out and keep it aside.
Let the mixture cool completely.
 Transfer the mixture into a mixer grinder jar add salt and add curd a little and grind to smooth paste.

Transfer to a bowl .
Add curd to adjust the consistency of tambuli.

Now prepare for oggarane (seasoning)

Heat  one tablespoon of ghee in a pan or laddle,add one teaspoon of sasive (mustard seeds//rai),jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)asafoetida (ingu//hing) of each,when it starts spluttering pour over tambuli.

Delicious tambuli is ready to eat,serve with rice.
