Instant bele saaru( instant rasam)

 


Ingredients

Togari belle (toor dhal //pigeon peas)—1/4 cup

Byadagi red chillies (ona menasina kayi//red chillies)—6 to 7
Coriander seeds (kothambari bija//sabut dhania)—2 tablespoon 

Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 tablespoon 
Black pepper corns —1/2 teaspoon 
Turmeric powder (arisina//haldi)—1/2 teaspoon 

Grated fresh coconut (kayi turi//nariyal)—1/3 cup
Tamarind (hunase hannu) soaked in water—small lemon sized 
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud)—1 tablespoon 
Salt—to taste 

Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—few
Water—as required 

Method 

Wash the togari belle in water.
Take washed  togari belle,red chillies,jeerige,dhania seeds,pepper corns,coconut in a mixer grinder jar and powder coarsely.
Then add squeezed  tamarind juice,and grind to a smooth paste.

Transfer the ground paste to a vessel or kadai,add salt,jaggery,turmeric powder,curry leaves and keep it for boil.

Add sufficient water to adjust the consistency of saaru.
Let it boil on medium flame for 5 to 8 minutes till raw smell goes.
Switch off the stove.

Prepare for seasoning (oggarane)

Heat one tablespoon of ghee in a laddle,once’s hot enough add 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds (sasive),jeerige (jeera// cumin seeds),asafoetida (hing//ingu) .
When it stops spluttering pour over saaru.

Delicious saaru is ready to serve,serve with hot rice.
