Om kaalu (ajwain) tambuli
Ingredients
Om kaalu (ajwain//carom seeds)—1 tablespoon
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 tablespoon
Black pepper corns (kaalu menasu//kali mirch)—1 tablespoon
Kadale belle ( channa dhal)—1 tablespoon
Urad dhal (uddina belle)—1 tablespoon
Ghee—1 teaspoon
Fresh grated coconut ( kayi turi//nariyal)—1 cup
Salt—to taste
Thick curd (mosaru//dahi)—3 cups
Method
Roast together om kaalu,jeerige,black pepper corns,kadale and uddina belle adding ghee in a pan on medium flame.
Roast till dhals turns to light brown and turns aromatic.
( do not burn the spices)
Switch off the flame and add grated coconut and mix well.
Let the mixture cool completely.
Transfer the ingredients to a mixer grinder jar and add salt ,little curd and grind to smooth paste.
Transfer to a bowl and add rest of curd and mix well together.
Now prepare for seasoning (oggarane)
Heat one teaspoon of ghee in a laddle,once hot add one teaspoon of sasive (mustard seeds),jeerige (jeera//cumin seeds),asafoetida (hing//ingu),few curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta).
When it stops spluttering pour over tambuli and mix well.
Now healthy,delicious tambuli is ready to serve.
Serve with rice.
