Sweet potato tikki
Ingredients
Sweet potatoes ( sihi genasu )—2
Onion—1 medium sized ( finely chopped)
Coriander leaves (kothambari soppu)—2 tablespoon finely chopped
Red chilli powder—1 tablespoon
Salt—to taste
Black pepper powder—1 teaspoon
Jeera powder( cumin seeds powder)—1 teaspoon
Dhania ( coriander seeds) powder—1 teaspoon
Amchur powder ( or lemon juice )—1 teaspoon
Garam masala powder—1 teaspoon
Chat masala powder—1 teaspoon
Corn flour—2 to 3 tablespoon
Rice flour—2 tablespoon
Oil—for frying
Method
Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes well ,
Place them into a pressure cooker ( or even keep them in a separate container) ,add enough water so that they are submerged in water.
Cook on medium flame for 3 whistles.
When the pressure reduces open the lid and take out the sweet potatoes and drain water completely.
Then peel off the skin.
Mash them well by using a potato masher or hands.
Now add chopped onion,coriander leaves,salt mix well with your hands.
Then add all the masala powders,mix everything well.
Next add rice flour and corn flour and mix everything well together.
( note;; the quantity of rice flour and corn flour depends on the moisture present in sweet potato,that you are able to shape tikki.
And also masala powder you can adjust according to your spice level)
Take a smal portion of dough,press between your greased palms and shape it like tikki.
Shape all the tikkis and keep it ready.
Now heat few tablespoons of oil in a nonstick pan or tava or skillet on medium flame,place the tikkis.
Cook until the tikkis are golden brown from bottom,and then flip carefully to cook the other side.
Once’s the tikkis are golden brown remove from pan and drain on an absorbent paper.
Serve delicious tikkis with green chutney and tomato ketchup or sauce.
