Rave uttapam ( sooji uttapam)
Ingredients
Medium rava ( uppittu rave//semolina//sooji)—1 cup
Curd (mosaru//dahi)—1 cup
Green chillies (hasiru menasina kayi//hari mirch)—2
Tomato—1 medium sized
Onion (irulli//pyaz)—1 medium sized ( or 2 small ones)
Kadipatta (curry leaves//karibevu)—few
Ginger (shunti//adarak)—small piece
Coriander leaves (kothambari soppu)—chopped—2 tablespoon
Salt—to taste
Cooking soda —small pinch ( optional)
Oil—1 tablespoon
Sasive (mustard seeds//rai)—1 teaspoon
Channa dhal (kadale belle)—1 teaspoon
Urad dhal (uddina belle)—1 teaspoon
Water—1 cup
Method
Take rava in a bowl add curd and mix well.
Cover it with a lid and keep it aside for five minutes.
Chop onion,tomato,green chillies finely.
Heat oil in a pan on medium flame,once hot add sasive,uddina belle and kadale belle.
Sauté till crackles.
Then add chopped onion,ginger,green chillies,curry leaves.
Sauté for a minute till onions turns soft.
Add chopped tomatoes and saute for a minute.
Switch off the stove.
Let it cool completely.
Add this mixture to soaked rava batter .
And also add chopped coriander leaves,salt,soda and mix well adding water.
The batter should be little thick and like spreading consistency.
Now heat a nonstick pan or skillet on medium flame.
Pour a laddle full of batter .keep it thick.
Sprinkle little oil,and cover with a lid and cook on low flame.
When it gets brown from base ,then flip on other side carefully.
Cook the other side for a minute.
Take it out on a plate.
Serve hot uttapam with chutney powder,chutney or sauce.
You can also add grated carrot (1), capsicum one chopped finely.
