Left over rice otthu shavige ( rice noodles)
Ingredients
Cooked rice ( anna)—2 cups
Rice flour ( akki hittu//chaval powder)—1 plus 1/4 cup
Water—1/2 cup ( or a tablespoon more as required)
Oil or ghee—1 tablespoon
Salt—to taste
Chakli mould ( murukku press)
Method
Grind the cooked rice in mixer grinder jar to a fine paste adding water little by little ( do not add all the water at once).
Transfer the ground paste to a mixing bowl,add salt and mix well.
Add rice flour little by little and start kneading.
Knead to a soft dough.
Now make a cylindrical shaped dumplings out of dough.
Grease the chakli mould with some oil,and place the dumplings inside the maker.
Tighten with the lid and press shavige in circular motion on greased plate.
Place the plates inside the steamer or idli maker .
Steam for 6 to 7 minutes.
Remove immediately from the steamer and let it cool.
Serve with ghasghase payasa,kayi haalu ( sweetened coconut milk),yellu Bella powder ( til jaggery powder),curd,or even sambar or any side dish of your choice.
You can also prepare like lemon chitranna or puliogre
