Flax seeds ( Agase bija ) chutney powder

 


Ingredients 

Flax seeds ( agase bija)—1 cup

Channa dhal (kadale belle)—1/2 cup
Uddina belle (urad dhal )—1/2 cup
Kobbari (dry coconut grated//copra)—1 cup
Small lemon sized tamarind (hunase hannu//imli)

Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—handfull 
Dry red chillies ( ona menasina kayi//lal mirch)—15 ( bydagi variety)
Asafoetida (hing//ingu)—1 tablespoon 
Jaggery powder ( Bella//gud)—1 tablespoon 
Salt—to taste.

Method 

Firstly dry roast kadale belle in a pan or kadai on medium flame until it turns to light brown in colour.
Keep stirring continuously.
Once done transfer to a plate,keep it aside.

Next in the same pan take uddina belle and dry roast until it turns to light brown colour.
Take out and transfer to a plate.

In the same pan take flax seeds and roast until it starts spluttering on medium flame.
Do not burn the flaxseeds.
Once done transfer to  the plate.

Next take kobbari,karibevu,ingu,tamarind and fry till kobbari turns crisp and turns slightly brown.
Transfer to the plate.
Finally fry red chillies adding a teaspoon of oil,until they turns crisp.
Take it aside.

Allow all the roasted ingredients to cool  completely.
Mix all ingredients together add salt.
Transfer to a mixer grinder jar and grind to  coarse powder .
Tasty and healthy chutney powder is ready.
Store in an airtight container.
Serve with rice,dosa,idli,rotti.
