Nendra balle hannu halbai ( Kerala banana halwa)
Ingredients
Nendra balle hannu ( banana)—4 ( riped ones)
Jaggery powder ( Bella//gud)—1 cup
Chopped badam( badami//almonds),cashews (godambi//kaju)—1/3 cup
Pure ghee (tuppa)—4 to 5 tablespoon
Cardamom pods (ellaki//elaichi)—6
Water—1/4 cup
Method
Peel the bananas.
Slice them and transfer them to a mixer grinder jar.
Grind to fine paste without adding water.
Melt jaggery powder by adding water on medium flame.
Powder the cardamom
Now take a nonstick pan or thick bottomed kadai,add a tablespoon of ghee ,and keep on low flame.
Add in ground banana paste and fry for 10 minutes stirring continuously.
Add one more tablespoon of ghee.
When the paste starts thickening,add jaggery water and mix well.
Add one more tablespoon of ghee .
Cook on medium flame stirring continuously so that it doesn’t burn.
Continue adding ghee in between.
Add chopped dry fruits ,cardamom powder and mix well.
Now colour of halbai would have changed to dark brown in colour.
When it becomes one lump and leaves the pan without sticking to pan,pour on to a greased plate or tray and spread evenly using a greased spoon.
Allow it to cool completely.
Finally cut into desired shape.
Whole process of cooking took around 30 to 35 minutes in low flame.
