Kama Kasthuri bija da payasa ( Sabja// sweet basil seeds kheer)
Ingredients
Kama Kasthuri bija (sabja seeds//sweet basil sweets)—1/4 cup
Milk —2 cups
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud)—1 cup
Almonds ( badami//badam)—1/2 cup
Cashew nuts (godambi//kaju)—1/2 cup
Cardamom pods (ellaki//elaichi)—6
Cloves (lavanga)—6
Kesari (saffron strands//kesar)—1 pinch
Ghee (tuppa)—1 tablespoon
Raisins (drakshi//kishmish)—2 tablespoon
Broken cashews (godambi//kaju)—2 tablespoon
Water—3 cups
Method
Soak kama Kasthuri bija in two cups of water for 10 minutes.
Powder almonds,cashews,ellaki,cloves in a mixer grinder jar to fine powder.
Add saffron to milk and keep aside.
Now heat ghee in a pan or kadai,add 2 tablespoon of cashews and drakshi and fry until raisins puffs up and cashews turns brown.
Remove and transfer to a plate and keep it aside.
Now take jaggery powder in the same kadai,add 1 cup of water .
Stir on medium flame.
When the jaggery melts,add in powdered almonds cashew mixture.
Stir well.
Add milk and let it boil .
When the mixture starts boiling add the soaked kama Kasthuri bija.
Mix well .
Let it boil for few more minutes.keep stirring.
Finally add the fried cashews and raisins and mix well.
Delicious payasa is ready to serve.
You can serve hot or chilled.
