Hesaru kaalu unde (green gram laddu)

 


Ingredients 

Hesaru kaalu (whole green gram// green moong)—1 cup 
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud) or powdered sugar—1 cup
Grated dry coconut (kobbari//copra)—1/2 cup
Melted ghee (tuppa)—1/3 cup
Raisins (drakshi//kishmish)—20 to 25
Broken cashews (godambi//kaju)—1 tablespoon 
Cardamom pods (ellaki//elaichi)—4 
Cloves (lavanga)—5

Method 

Firstly dry roast hesaru  kaalu in a pan or kadai  on medium flame until it turns to little brown colour and aromatic  stirring continuously.

Transfer to a plate and keep it aside. Let it cool completely.

In the same pan dry roast dry coconut,cloves,cardamom powder for a few seconds.
Transfer to a plate and keep it aside.

Now in the same pan,take one tablespoon of ghee add in cashews and raisins and fry till cashews turns brown add raisins puffs up. Remove from the pan and transfer to a plate.

Next take the roasted hesaru kaalu in a mixer grinder jar and grind  it to fine powder.
If necessary seive it once. Transfer the powder to the pan.

Now blend dry coconut,cardamom pods,cloves in the mixer grinder jar.
Transfer to the pan,add in jaggery powder,roasted drakshi and Godambi.
Mix everything well together with your hands. Now add melted ghee little by little and mix well together with your hands.

Now grease your hands and take lemon sized laddu mix and shape into unde (laddu).
Continue the process with rest of the mixture.
Healthy hesaru kaalu unde is ready to eat. Let it cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

Note - you can powder jaggery little  in a mixer grinder jar if necessary .
