Bansi rava vegetables uppittu ( wheat rava upma)
Ingredients
Bansi rava ( wheat rava //wheat semolina )—1 cup
Water—3 1/4 cup
For seasoning (oggarane)
Oil—3 tablespoon
Sasive (mustard seeds//rai)—1 teaspoon
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 teaspoon
Kadale belle (channa dhal)—1 tablespoon
Urad dhal (uddina belle)—1 tablespoon
Vegetables
Onion chopped (irulli//pyaz)—1 medium sized
Tomato chopped—1 medium sized
Aloo (alugedde//potato) chopped—1 medium sized
Carrot — grated or chopped—2
Beans( hurali kayi)— chopped —1/2 cup
Green chillies (hasiru menasina kayi//hari mirch)—2 to 3
Adarak (ginger//shunti)—small piece
Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—few
Lemon (nimbe hannu)—1
Grated fresh coconut ( kayi turi//nariyal)—1/2 cup
Coriander leaves chopped (kothambari soppu//hara dhaniya)—2 tablespoon
Salt—to taste
Huli pudi ( sambar powder) —1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder (arisina//haldi)—1 teaspoon
Cooking method
Dry roast the bansi rava in a thick bottomed kadai or pan on medium flame until it turns light brown.
Transfer to a plate and keep it aside.
Now heat oil in a same kadai on medium flame.
Once hot enough add sasive,jeerige and sauté.
When it crackles add kadale belle and uddina belle.
Sauté till dhals turns brown.
Now add in curry leaves,green chillies chopped,onion and saute for a few minutes.
Next add all other vegetables,arisina and fry for a few minutes,till vegetables turns little soft.
Now add water ,salt,sambar powder,grated coconut and let it boil.
When the water starts boiling ,add roasted rava little by little stirring continuously so that lumps are not formed.
Cover with a lid and cook on medium flame,stirring in between.
When uppittu is cooked fully add squeezed lemon juice and mix well.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves,.
Now uppittu is ready to serve.
