Passion fruit saaru ( soup)

 


Ingredients 


Passion fruit—3 
Ghee (tuppa)—2 tablespoon 
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 tablespoon 
Black and corns( kaalu menasu)—1 tablespoon 
Asafoetida (hing//ingu)—1 teaspoon 
Dry red chillies (ona menasina kayi//lal mirch)—2
Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—few
Jaggery powder—2 tablespoon 
Ginger ( shunti//adarak) paste—1 teaspoon 
Salt—to taste
Water—3 to 4 cups

Method 

Cut the passion fruits into halves,remove the pulp from fruit.
Add  one cup of water and squeeze pulp and strain the juice.
Discard seeds.

Crush both jeera and black pepper corns to coarse powder.

Heat ghee in a kadai or pan on medium flame.
Once hot enough add crushed pepper corn,jeera powder and saute.
Then add broken red chilli,curry leaves,asafoetida and sauté on low flame.
Next add in ginger paste and sauté.
Finally add strained  passion fruit juice,jaggery powder,salt and water.
Allow it to boil.
Once boiled well switch off the stove.
Tasty ,healthy passion fruit saaru is ready.
Serve pipping hot with cooked rice or drink it as soup.
