Ragi health drink ( finger millet)

 

Ingredients for making powder 

Ragi flour ( finger millet flour )—1 cup

Badam (badami//almonds)—20
Cashew nuts (godambi)—20
Cardamom pods (ellaki//elaichi)—4
Cloves (lavanga)—6 to 7
Jaikai (jaiphal// nutmeg)—small piece 
Black pepper corns (menasu kaalu)—20 to 25 corns
Saffron strands (kesar//kesari )—1 pinch 

Method 

Dry roast almonds,cashews,cloves,cardamom,jaikai,pepper corns in a pan on medium  low flame.
Just roast for 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove from the pan and transfer to a plate and keep it aside.
Now take ragi flour in the same pan.
Dry roast on low flame for 4 to 5 minutes stirring continuously 
Do not burn the flour.

Take out from flame and  and keep it aside .
let  it cool completely.

Now transfer ragi flour and fried nuts and spices to a mixer grinder jar.
Add saffron and grind to fine powder.
Store in an airtight container.

Procedure for making ragi drink 

Milk—1 cup
Ragi drink powder—1 teaspoon heaped 
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud)—3/4 teaspoon 

Add the ragi drink powder and jaggery  to the milk and mix well,ensuring that  there are no lumps.
Now cook on medium flame till it comes to boil 
Keep stirring continuously.
Once done pour to a cup and drink hot.

Tasty, nourishing drink is ready.
