Didir avalakki idli ( instant poha idli)
Ingredients
Thick variety avalakki ( poha//beaten rice//aval)—1 cup
Idli rava ( idli sooji//rice rave)—2 cups
Curd (mosaru//dahi)—1 cup
Grated carrot—3/4 cup or one small carrot grated
Chopped coriander leaves (kothambari soppu//hara dhaniya)—3 tablespoon
Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—finely chopped 2 tablespoon
Green chillies (hasiru menasina kayi//hari mirch)—2 to 3 finely chopped
Ginger(shunti//adarak)- paste or grated —1 teaspoon
Eno fruit salt—1 teaspoon
Salt—to taste
Sugar—1/2 teaspoon
Idli steamer
Method
Take a bowl and Wash avalakki in water and drain water and add curd and mix well.
Cover with a plate or lid and keep it aside for 5 minutes.
Wash the idli rava and drain water and keep it aside.
Then take the soaked avalakki and transfer it into a mixer grinder jar and grind to smooth batter.
You can add very little water if needed.
Transfer the batter into a mixing bowl,add in washed idli rava,grated carrot,karibevu,coriander leaves,ginger,green chillies,salt and sugar.
Mix everything well together.
Add in eno fruit salt.
And gently fold the batter.
The batter should be of thick consistency,do not make it thin to avoid flat idlis.
Grease the idli plates with oil and pour the batter into the idli moulds.
Place the idli plates in the steamer.
Steam cook for 10 to 12 minutes on medium heat.
Take out the idli plates and let it cool for a while.
Take out the idlis.
Serve with chutney or sambar.
