Avalakki ( poha) rotti

 


Ingredients 

Avalakki (poha//beaten rice)—1 cup

Rice flour—1 cup
Onion ( finely chopped) —medium sized one
Grated carrot—one
Fresh coconut grated (kayi turi//nariyal)—1/4 cup ( optional)
Ginger (shunti//adarak)—1 teaspoon paste or grated 
Green chillies—one finely chopped 
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 tablespoon 
Coriander leaves ( kothambari soppu//hara dhaniya)—2 tablespoon finely chopped.
Salt— to taste.

Oil—for making rotti
Water—as required 

Method 

Powder avalakki in the mixer grinder jar to a fine powder.
Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Add all the other ingredients ( except oil) ,mix well together.
Add  sufficient water and knead to a dough .
Rest for 5 minutes.

Now take a big lemon sized dough,place in the centre of greased tava or skillet.
Spread it gently to make a thin circle by wetting hand in water.
Now make a hole in the centre and few more around the rotti.
Put oil in the holes and around edges of rotti.

Cover with a lid and place on the stove on medium flame.
Let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
Once its brown remove the rotti.
Serve rotti with butter,chutney or sauce.
