Avalakki unde( poha ladoo)
Ingredients
Thick avalakki (poha//rice flakes)—2 cups
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud)—3/4 cup
Grated dry coconut (kobbari//copra)—1/4 cup
Ghee(tuppa)—3 to 4 tablespoon
Raisins ( ona drakshi)—2 tablespoon
Cashew nuts (godambi)—2 tablespoon
Badam (badami//almonds)—2 tablespoon
Powdered cardamom (ellaki//elaichi)and cloves (lavanga)—3 each
Water—1/4 cup
Method
Dry roast avalakki in a pan on medium flame,stirring continuously and gently.
The avalakki need to become crisp ( some of them become light brown).
Remove from flame and transfer to a plate to cool .
Transfer to a mixer grinder jar and powder it finely.
Transfer to a mixing bowl.
Now heat one tablespoon of ghee in the same pan,add chopped dry fruits and fry till raisins puffs up and cashews turns brown.
Switch off the stove.
Add in grated dry coconut and mix .
Transfer this to the same bowl.( avalakki powder)
Add in powdered cardamom and cloves powder.
Mix everything well together with your hands.
Add rest of the ghee and mix.
Now in the same pan heat jaggery adding water.
Let jaggery dissolve completely.
No need for a one thread consistency or paaka.
Pour this jaggery water to the avalakki mixture.
Mix them well together with your hands.
Make laddus (unde) when it is warm by taking a small portion .
Tasty and quick avalakki unde and ready.
Store in an airtight container.
