Halasina hannu halbai (jack fruit)

 


Ingredients 

Halasina hannu (jack fruit) chunks—20
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud)—1/2 cup to 3/4 cup ( depends  on sweet ness of fruits)
Water—1/4 cup
Cardamom pods (ellaki//elaichi)—4 
Jaikai (jaiphal //nutmeg) powder—1/2 teaspoon 
Ghee—5 to 6 tablespoon 
Saffron strands (kesar//kesari)—1 pinch 

Rice flour ( akki hittu)—4 tablespoon 
Water—1/2 cup

Method 

Mix rice  flour in water and stir to a smooth batter.
Grind the halasina hannu in a mixer grinder jar to a smooth paste without adding water.

Melt jaggery powder by adding water on medium flame.

Now take a pan or thick bottomed kadai,add a tablespoon of ghee on keep on medium flame.
Add in ground jack fruit paste and fry for 5 minutes till nice aroma comes out.
Add jaggery water and mix well.
Now add rice flour batter and mix well.
Cook on medium flame stirring continuously so that it doesn’t burn.
Continue adding ghee in between.
Add in saffron strands.
Keep stirring until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
Now add cardamom powder and jaikai powder.
When it becomes one lump and leaves the pan without sticking  pour on a greased plate and spread evenly.
Allow it to cool completely.
And then cut into desired shape.
