Tomato kayi sasive gojju

 


Ingredients for grinding 

Tomato ( medium sized)—6 
Fresh grated coconut (kayi turi// nariyal)—1 cup
Sasive (mustard seeds//rai)—1 teaspoon 
Dry red chillies—4 ( i have used bydagi red chillies)

Wash and chop tomatoes into cubes.
Transfer all the above ingredients to a mixer grinder jar and grind to a smooth purée, (paste) without adding any water.

Ingredients for seasoning (oggarane)

Oil—2 tablespoon 
Sasive (mustard seeds//rai)—1 teaspoon 
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 teaspoon 
Asafoetida (hing//ingu)—1 teaspoon 
Turmeric powder (arisina//haldi)—1 teaspoon 
Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—few


Salt—to taste
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud)—1 tablespoon 
Coriander leaves (kothambari soppu)—2 tablespoon chopped 

Method for preparing gojju.

Heat oil in a pan or kadai,once’s hot enough add sasive,jeerige and sauté on medium flame.
When it crackles add asafoetida,curry leaves,turmeric powder and saute.
Add in ground tomato mixture (purée),salt,jaggery powder and stir well.
Let it boil on medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes.
Add coriander leaves and mix well.
Switch off the stove.
Tasty tomato kayi sasive gojju is ready to serve.
Serve with hot rice ,chapattis.
