Kadale kayi bija ( peanuts) chutney
Ingredients
Kadale kayi bija (peanuts//ground nuts)—1 cup
Kadale belle (channa dhal)—1 tablespoon
Uddina belle (urad dhal)—1 tablespoon
Green chillies (hasiru menasina kayi)—2
Ginger (shunti//adarak)—small 2 inches piece
Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—1/3 cup or hand full
Coriander leaves (kothambari soppu//hara dhania)—1/3 cup or handfull
Salt —to taste
Jaggery powder (Bella//gud)—or sugar—1 teaspoon
Method
Firstly ,in a pan or kadai,dry roast ground nuts on low medium flame until it is crisp.
Transfer to a plate or bowl.
Let it cool completely.
Now heat one teaspoon of oil in the same pan,once’s hot enough add kadale belle and uddina belle.
Roast on medium flame till the dhals turn to light brown colour.
To this add green chillies,ginger and sauté for a while.
Now add karibevu and coriander leaves and sauté for a second and switch off the stove.
Let it cool completely.
Once cool transfer the mixture to a mixer grinder jar,add fried ground nuts and salt,jaggery and little water.
Grind it together to a smooth paste (chutney consistency).
Transfer to a bowl.
Now prepare for seasoning (oggarane )
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee in a laddle or pan,once’s hot enough add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds (sasive).
When it crackles add 1 tablespoon of uddina belle (urad dhal),1/4 teaspoon of menthya seeds (fenugreek seeds),1/2 teaspoon of asafoetida (hing//ingu), and 2 dry red chillies.
When done pour the chutney and mix everything well together.
Tasty Indian style peanuts chutney is ready to serve.
Serve with dosa,idli,chapattis.
