Instant avalakki ( poha ) chakli
Ingredients
Rice flour (akki hittu)—1 cupGhatti avalakki ( thick poha// rice flakes)—1/2 cup
Hurigadale ( roasted gram)—1/4 cup
Red chilli powder (achha menasina pudi)—1 tablespoon
White or black Yellu( til Seeds (seasame seeds)—1 tablespoon
Jeera (jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 teaspoon
Om kaalu ( ajwain seeds)—1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida ( hing//ingu)—1/2 teaspoon
Salt—to taste
Butter or Cooking oil—1 tablespoon
Water — as required to knead dough
Cooking oil—for deep frying
Method
Powder hurigadale and avalakki together in a mixer grinder jar to fine powder.Sieve it to a mixing bowl.
Add in rice flour,red chilli powder,jeera,Om kaalu,hing ,seasame seeds and salt.
Now add all the ingredients together well.
Add in hot oil or butter to it ,mix well using your hands so that it binds well with flour mixture.
Now add water little by little and knead to a smooth stiff dough.
Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Mean while keep oil in a kadai or pan for heating on medium flame.
Grease the chakli or murukku press with little oil,and fill the dough in it.
Press chakli on a parchment paper or plastic sheet.
Slowly drop them in hot oil one by one and deep fry them on medium flame till they turn to golden brown colour.
Flip them in between to cook evenly.
Once done,remove from oil and drain over kitchen paper or tissue.
Crispy and tasty avalakki chakli is ready
Cool them completely and Store in an airtight container.
