Belada hannina Panaka ( wood Apple juice)


Ingredients 

Belada hannu ( bel // wood apple)—1 
Jaggery powder ( Bella // gud )—1/2 cup
Cardamom powder (ellaki //elaichi)—1 teaspoon 
Black or white pepper powder ( kaalu menasu pudi)—1/2 teaspoon 
Water- 4 cups 

Method 

Take one belada hannu , break open the fruit ,just like the way you break coconut,shell will be hard.
Then scoop the fruit  pulp using a spoon.
Now transfer the fruit pulp to a bowl,add  one cup of water in the beginning,mash the fruit using your  hand and squeeze the juice and strain it to a bowl.

Now transfer the residue again to bowl,add 1 cup of water and squeeze the juice and strain.

Repeat the process 2 to 3 times to extract maximum juice.
Discard the residue.

Now to this extracted juice add jaggery powder and mix it well until the jaggery powder completely dissolves.

Finally add pepper powder and cardamom powder mix well.
Now panaka is ready to serve.


Note 

You can also add a pinch of salt it’s optional.

It’s a traditional recipe prepared during Ram Navami and Shivaratri festivals.
