Bansi rave khara Pongal ( broken wheat rava)
Ingredients
Bansi rava ( wheat rava// wheat semolina)—2 cupsMoong dhal ( hesaru belle)—3/4 cup
Jeera ( jeerige//cumin seeds)—1 tablespoon
Black pepper corns ( menasu kaalu)—1 tablespoon
Dry coconut grated( kobbari)—2 tablespoon
Green chillies —1
Ginger ( shunti)—small piece grated
Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta)—few
Coriander leaves ( kothambari soppu) chopped—2 tablespoon
Cashews ( godambi)—2 tablespoon
Asafoetida (hing)—1/2 teaspoon
Ghee—3 tablespoon
Turmeric powder (arisina//haldi)—1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Water.
Method
Crush the jeera seeds and black pepper to coarse powder.keep it aside
Dry roast the bansi rava until slightly fragrant,do not brown.
Wash the moong dhal.
Now heat ghee in a pressure cooker on medium flame,add cashews nuts and saute till brown.
Add in jeera pepper powder,ginger grated ,green chilli,curry leaves,asafoetida,turmeric powder and keep stirring on medium flame.
Then add washed moong dhal fry for a minute,
Add in roasted bansi rava and water ,salt,grated dry coconut .
Mix well cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles..
Once the pressure reduces,open and give a good mix add more water if needed.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
