Nuchhina unde( steamed lentils)

Ingredients 

Togari  belle ( toor dhal// split pigeon pea )—1 cup
Channa dhal (kadale belle // benga gram ) —-1/2 cup
Grated coconut—3/4 cup
Green chillies—3
Ginger( shunti) —small piece grated 
Asafoetida (hing//ingu)—1/2 teaspoon 
Turmeric powder (arisina//haldi)—1/2 teaspoon 
Curry leaves (karibevu//kadipatta )—few
Coriander leaves ( kothambari soppu)—1 tablespoon chopped 
Salt to taste
Lemon juice( nimbehannina rasa)—1 tablespoon 

Method 

Wash and soak both the dhals together in water for 2 to 3 hours.

Drain the water.

Grind the dhals along with green chillies in a mixer grinder or food processor to coarse mixture without adding water.
Don’t grind dhal to smooth paste.

Transfer it to a mixing bowl.
Add grated coconut,ginger grated ,chopped coriander leaves,curry leaves,salt,asafoetida,turmeric powder,lemon juice.
Mix all the ingredients well.

Now grease the idli plates.
Heat water in a steamer .
Take 3 to 4 tablespoon of the mixture ,make oval shaped dumplings and place them in idli plates.
Keep this prepared idli plates in cooker and steam cook for 12 to 15 minutes on medium heat.

Once done turn off heat.
Remove the plates from steamer and remove nuchhina unde carefully.
Serve with majjige huli,majjige paldya,ghee and chutney.

note

 You can add chopped onions,or dil leaves( sabbasige soppu finely chopped) to the mixture.  ( optional)
