Rice kheer //ksheeranna ( akki haalu payasa)

Ingredients 

Jeera rice or broken rice—1/2 cup
Full cream milk—( 4 to 5 % fat)—3  cups
White sugar— 1/ 3 cup
 Pure Ghee- 1 tablespoon 
 saffron (kesari or kesar) strands —1 teaspoon soaked in 2 tablespoon of warm milk
Cloves(lavanga)—4 to 5
Bay leay( palav leaf)—1 small 
Raisins (drakshi)—2 tablespoon 
Cashews (godambi)—2 tablespoon 
Badam—7 to 8
Cardamom pods (ellaki)—5
Water -1 cup

For extra taste

MTR or any brand badam drink mix — 2  to 3 tablespoon 

Method 

Wash  the rice .
Take a pressure cooker, transfer the washed rice,cloves,bay leaf,cardamom pods to it.
Pour water and  2 cups of milk and pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.

Once the pressure subsides,open the lid .

Now  add in saffron,rest of the milk and sugar and allow it to boil on low flame stirring continuously.
 Also add MTR badam drink mix ,
Cook for a few more minutes until everything blends well or until you get the desired payasa consistency.

Now heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a laddle add raisins,cashews and badam fry raisins and cashews are done.

Pour this over payasa and mix well.

Please note payasa will become little thick once it is cool.


Serve this tasty delicious payasa hot or cold .
