Tomato chutney

Ingredients

Tomatoes  ripped medium sized —6
Channa dhal ( kadale belle)—1 tablespoon
Urad dhal (uddina belle)—1 tablespoon
Menthya kaalu ( methi seeds// fenugreek seeds)—1/4 teaspoon
Coriander seeds ( dhania// kothambari bija)—1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida ( hing)—1/4 teaspoon
Byadagi red chillies—5 to 6
Curry leaves ( karibevu//kadipatta)—2 tablespoon
Jaggery powder ( Bella //gud)—1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil—2 teaspoon

Method 

Wash and chop tomatoes into cubes or small pieces.
 
Heat oil in a pan or kadai,add channa dhal ,urad dhal,methi seeds,coriander seeds,sauté on medium flame till the dhals turn light brown.
 Add in red chillies,curry leaves,asafoetida and sauté till done.
Now add in chopped tomatoes and sauté till tomatoes turns mushy.
Finally add salt and jaggery powder.

Switch off the stove and allow it to cool completely.
Then transfer it to a mixer jar and grind it to a smooth paste.
Transfer to a bowl.

Now prepare for seasoning (oggarane)

Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a laddle ,once hot enough add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and 1 teaspoon of urad dhal.
When mustard seeds stops spluttering pour over chutney. 

Now tasty tomato chutney is ready to serve.

Serve with idli,dosa,chapattis,rotti, bread,and even with rice.
