Tomato onion chutney
Ingredients
Tomato—4 medium sized
Onion—1 medium sized
Grated coconut—1 cup
Channa dhal (kadale belle)—1 tablespoon
Urad dhal (uddina belle)—1 tablespoon
Green chillies—2 to 3
Ginger—small 1 inch piece
Tamarind—small piece
Curry leaves( karibevu/kadipatta)—2 tablespoon
Coriander leaves—2 tablespoon chopped
Jaggery powder—1 tablespoon
Salt to taste.
Oil—1 tablespoon
Method
Chop onion,tomatoes into small cubes or pieces.
Chop ginger and green chillies also.
Take a kadai or pan take oil ,once little hot,add channa and urad dhal,sauté till they turn brown,on medium heat.
Now add in onion chopped,green chillies,curry leaves,ginger and sauté till onion are translucent.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt to cook onion faster.
Now add tomatoes ,tamarind fry till they are soft and little mushy sprinkle little water.
Finally add coconut grated and sauté for few minutes.
Now turn of the heat and let it cool completely.
Once cooled grind the mixture along with salt to a smooth paste in a mixer grinder.
Add water a little if required.
Transfer it to a bowl .
Prepare for seasoning (oggarane)
Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a laddle, once hot add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and 1 teaspoon
of urad dhal ,and 1/2 teaspoon of hing/asafoetida.
Once stops spluttering pour over chutney.
Now chutney is ready .
Serve with dosa,idli,or boiled rice.
