Kosugedde bhath ( cabbage rice)
Ingredients
Cabbage ( elekosu/kosugedde)—2 cups
Cooked rice—3 cups
Oil—4 to 5 tablespoon
Tamarind soaked in water—small lemon size
Dry coconut ( kobbari/copra )—1/4 cup
Jaggery powder—1 teaspoon
Asafoetida—1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves—few

Salt to taste
Mustard seeds(sasive)—1 teaspoon
Jeera( cumin seeds)—1 teaspoon
Channa dhal (kadale belle)—1 tablespoon
Urad dhal (uddina belle)—1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder—1/2 teaspoon
Method
Cook the rice ( 1 cup ) adding 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles .
Once cool remove and keep it aside.
Finely chop cabbage and wash well in water.
Heat 4 tablespoon of oil in a pan or kadai,once hot enough add in mustard seeds,jeera,channa dhal, urad dhal,curry leaves, turmeric powder and asafoetida.
Once the dhal turns brown add in chopped cabbage and fry on medium flame.
Sprinkle little water and close the kadai with a lid and cook for a while.
Now add in jaggery powder,salt,tamarind juice,bhath powder and dry coconut .
Keep stirring on medium flame till everything gets mixed well.
Cook for a while.
Now switch off the stove.
Add in cooked rice.
Mix well gently and carefully.
Take care not to make rice mushy.
Now cabbage rice is ready to serve.
Serve hot or cold.
