Kayi dose ( coconut dosa)

Ingredients

Rice ( dosa rice / Sona masoori rice)—1 cup
Grated coconut—2 cups
Salt to taste.
Oil to make dosa 

Note— tender coconut is preferable for this dosa

Method 

Wash rice and soak in water overnight or 5 to 6 hours.
Next day drain water  from rice.
Grind the rice to a fine paste in mixer grinder adding little water.
Do not add too much  water,then it’s difficult to grind rice.
Once its ground to paste add coconut grated .
Make sure not to grind this to fine paste, after adding grated coconut.
Just pulse the mixer ,you have to feel the coconut in the batter.
Add salt and mix well.
Transfer it into a big bowl,the batter should not be watery its a thick flowing consistency batter.

Keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
Grease and heat the iron tava or nonstick tava.
Once the tava is hot enough,pour a ladleful of batter in the centre of the tava and move the laddle in a circular motion to make a circle.
This dosa is little thick compared to regular dosa.
Pour some oil and close the lid and cook for a few minutes.
Once done remove from tava and flip to other side.
Once done remove from tava.
Serve hot with coconut chutney,pickle and butter.
