Sabbasige soppu togari bele saaru( dil leaves toor dhal rasam)

Ingredients 

Sabbasige soppu finely chopped—2 cups

Toor dhal (togari bele)—1/4 cup 
Tomatoes medium—2
Tamarind—small piece 
Turmeric powder—1/2 teaspoon 
Jaggery powder—1/2 teaspoon 
Menasina pudi ( rasam/saaru powder)—1 tablespoon recipe here
Salt to taste 
Water.
Curry leaves—few.

Method 

Wash sabbasige soppu thoroughly in water and chopp them


Wash the toor dhal,and tomatoes.
Pressure cook the dhal along with turmeric powder,tomatoes and tamarind and sabbasige soppu ( in different containers) for 3 whistles on medium flame.
Don't add water to sabbasige soppu.
Turn off the heat and allow to cool.
Once pressure reduces open the lid and  take out the boiled dhal container.
Mash it in a mixy jar or hand  blender .
Transfer to a pan or kadai ,place it on stove ,boil it 
Now add in rasam powder,curry leaves,jaggery powder stir well,boil it on medium flame.
Add water if needed.
After 5 minutes add boiled sabbasige soppu and stir well
Allow it  to  boil adding salt and water to adjust consistency of saaru.
Boil well.
Turn off the heat.

Now  prepare for seasoning (oggarane )

Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a laddle,once hot add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and jeera,and asafoetida.
When stops spluttering pour over saaru.
Serve hot with cooked rice.with little ghee.
