Rave uppittu ( rava Upma )

 Ingredients 

Upma sooji (( medium rave // semolina// )—1 cup
Water—-3 cups 
Fresh grated coconut( kayi turi)--1/2 cup
Salt to taste.
Sugar- 1 teaspoon 
Small lemon —( nimbe hannu)—1
Onion chopped  -- 1 cup

For seasoning (Oggarane)

Oil—3 to 4 tablespoon 
Mustard seeds(sasive)—1 teaspoon 
Jeera —( jeerige// cumin seeds)—1 teaspoon 
Channa dhal—(kadale belle)—1 tablespoon 
Urad dhal— (uddina belle)—1 tablespoon 
Turmeric powder—( arisina// haldi)—1/2 teaspoon 
Green chillies—3 
Ginger ( shunti// adarak)—small piece 
Curry leaves(karibevu// kadipatta) —few
Coriander leaves( kothambari soppu)—chopped 1 tablespoon 

Method 

Dry roast the rave until it turns to light brown colour in a kadai or pan.
Keep aside in a plate.

Chop the onion, green chillies and ginger.

In the same kadai heat oil on medium heat.
Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds,jeera.
When it stops spluttering add channa dhal, urad dhal, and curry leaves.
When dhal turns light brown add green chillies chopped, ginger and keep stirring.

Now add chopped onions and turmeric powder mix well fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
Now add 3 cups of water, salt, and sugar. Let it boil on medium heat.
  
Reduce the heat and slowly add roasted rave mixing it all along.
Cover it with a lid and cook on low heat for 4 to 5 minutes or till done
Now turn off the heat 

Now mix well and add grated coconut, lemon juice and coriander leaves.

Now uppittu is ready to serve hot with pure ghee and chutney pudi
