Togari bele kattu saaru

Ingredients 

Togari belle ( toor dhal)—3/4 cup
Turmeric —1/4 teaspoon
Curry leaves—few 
Coriander leaves chopped— 1 tablespoon 
Ginger —3 inches big piece crushed 
Lemon —1/2 



Jeera —1 tablespoon 
Pepper corns—1/2 teaspoon 
Coriander seeds—1/4 teaspoon 

Powder  the above coarsely.

For seasoning 

Pure ghee—1 tablespoon 
Mustard seeds—1 teaspoon 
Jeera—1 teaspoon 
Asafoetida—1/4 teaspoon 

Method 

Wash and cook the toor dhal in pressure cooker along with turmeric powder adding water on medium heat to 3 whistles.

Once the pressure released remove lid mash the Dhal well.

Heat a pan or kadai ,add ghee ,once heated add mustard seeds,jeera,curry leaves,jeera pepper powder,crushed ginger.,asafoetida.

Sauté for a few seconds.
Add mashed dhal boil for 5 minutes adding salt.
Add water to adjust consistency.
Finally add coriander leaves.
Turn of the heat.

Squeeze the lemon juice.and close with a lid.
Serve hot with hot cooked rice.







NOTE  

Instead of toor dhal one can use moong dhal( hesaru belle _ as well ) for making saaru.
