Kadale kaalu usli( Palya)



  

Ingrediens

Kadale kaalu( chik peas// sabut channa)—2 cup
Fresh coconut grated—1 cup
Tamarind ( imli // hunase hannu)—1 big lemon sized soaked
Jaggery( Bella// gud) -1 tablespoon
Menasina ( saaru  or rasam powder) pudi—2 table spoon Recipe here
Salt to taste ;

Method

 Soak kadale kaalu overnight.

Wash next morning add fresh water to it and transfer to pressure cooker and boil for 7 to 8 whistles.

Drain cooked water and keep for making saaru.

Now add salt to kaalu and cook for 2 minutes.

Add tamarind juice ,jaggery and keep frying for 2 more minutes.
At this point add menasina pudi and fry for 2 minutes on medium flame.

Keep stirring adding a little boiled water which is kept aside for saaru.

Add grated coconut and cook for 2 minutes .

Finally pour  oggarane on usli.and mix well and serve.

Oggarane ( seasoning)

 Take 2 tablespoon of pure ghee add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and jeera each ,and asafoetida .when it stops spluttering add curry leaves.
Pour over boiled kaalu.
