huruli kaalu saaru

Ingredients 

Huruli kaalu ( horse gram ) — 1 cup
Grated fresh coconut- 3/4 cup
Tamarind soaked in water— lemon sized
Menasina pudi ( saarina pudi)— 2 to 3 tablespoon (link) recipe here
Jaggery—1 to 2 tablespoon 
Mustard seeds— 1 teaspoon 
Jeerige ( jeera )— 1 teaspoon 
Asafoetida—1/2 teaspoon 
Onion - 1 small 
Salt to taste
Curry leaves,
Ghee — 1 tablespoon 

Method 

Make sure no stones in huruli kaalu .
 Wash and soak in water overnight or 6 to 7 hours.

Next morning transfer to pressure cooker add 5 cups of water and boil for 7 to 8 whistles on medium heat.
 Once the pressure reduces open the cooker lid and drain  water.

Next grind cooked huruli kaalu,coconut,saarina pudi,onion,tamarind,jaggery to a fine paste.

Add this paste to drained water mix well add salt,curry leaves boil for 5 to 6 minutes.

Now prepare the oggarane ( seasoning)

Heat the ghee in a laddle once hot add mustard seeds,jeerige,asafoetida .when stops spluttering pour on boiled saaru.
