Desi style bendekai (bhindi) masala fry


Ingredients 

Bhindi  or bendekayi (lady finger or okra)—1/2 kg
Tomato —2 to 3
Green chillies—2
Garlic( belluli)—2 small pods 
Mustard seeds(sasive)—1 teaspoon 
Jeera(jeerige// cumin seeds)—1 teaspoon 
Red chili powder—1 teaspoon
Turmeric-( haldi// arisina) — 1/2 teaspoon 
Asafoetida (hing)—1 teaspoon 
Curry leaves( karibevu// kadipatta)—few
Oil-5 to 6 teaspoon 

Method

Wash bendekayi and dry completely and slit into length wise .
Grind  together tomatoes,green chilies,garlic,mustard seeds in a mixer grinder  jar to a smooth paste without adding water.

Heat oil in a kadai,once hot enough add jeera,curry leaves,asafoetida.

When done - Add ground masala fry for 2 to 3 minutes,add red chilli powder fry for another 3 minutes on medium flame.
 Now add in slit bhendi and sprinkle little water,fry till soft on medium flame.
Add salt and coconut grated(optional) to that,fry for a while.
Mix well.
Now bindi fry is ready to serve.
 Serve with rice,roti,chapattis .
