Alugedde irulli palya( alu onion )

Ingredients 

Alugedde(  potato OR  alu)—4 
Onion (  irulli)—2 medium 
Green chillies— 2 to 3
Ginger — small piece 
Curry leaves( karibevu// kadipatta)—few -
Coriander leaves( kothambari soppu)— chopped — 1 tablespoon 
Salt to taste 
Lemon( nimbe hannu) —1/2
Oil— 4 tablespoon 
Mustard seeds( sasive)—1 teaspoon 
Jeera(jeerige// cumin seeds)—1/2 teaspoon 
Channa and urad dhal( kadale belle and uddina belle)—1 tablespoon each
Asafoetida( hing// ingu)—1/2 teaspoon 
Turmeric powder( arisina// haldi)—1/4 teaspoon 

Method 

Wash and cook potatoes in pressure cooker for 2 whistles..
Once potoes are cooled remove skin and mash it .
Don’t mash it to paste but some bits of potatoes left.

Chop the onions into diagonal slices.
Chop green chillies and ginger.


Now heat oil in a kadai or pan ,once hot add mustard seeds,jeera,asafoetida,channa and urad dhal.

When done add curry leaves ,green chillies,ginger turmeric powder 
,and sauté for a while.
Now add  chopped onions keep stirring ,
Once onion becomes soft and little white in colour add boiled alu 

Mix it well gently. Adding salt.
Mix well and turn off heat 

Finally garnish it with coriander leaves and lemon juice.
Now palya is ready .
